Original Soviet Pre-WWII M36 Rucksack With Leather Straps Hotchkiss MG It was controlled by theOriginal Item: Only One Available. This is a wonderful example of a Pre War Soviet Model 1936 rucksack. In the original configuration these packs had leather shoulder straps like the ones you see here. These were updated with canvas straps some time early on in the war before the newer models were fielded. The canvas was favored over the leather due to it being stronger and able to handle the grunt life more while on the ground with the infantry.
